Daffodils are a lovely addition to any spring garden and are one of the most reliable spring-flowering bulbs. There are many different varieties aside from the recognisable vibrant yellow type, growing their best in full sun and often flowering for between 6-8 weeks.
Ideally, Daffodil bulbs are best planted in Autumn, often from September to November, when the soil has cooled off but the ground is still workable. Situate them anywhere in the garden, planting them twice the depth of the bulb while taking care to avoid close proximity to south-facing walls where the soil can become too hot.
Daffodils are great flowers to plant in borders and beds. They can also be grown in most plant pots and planters as long as there is adequate drainage to allow for excess water to clear. Containing a toxin that only some insects can eat and one which will deter deer, rabbits, and other rodents, Daffodil bulbs are a great choice when preparing for your spring garden.
