Description
Fill beds and borders with the dazzling, double and crested blooms of Calendula officinalis 'Summer Sunset'. Bright orange and yellow daisy flowers mingle with muted creams and apricots for a wonderful display that will last the whole summer. Commonly known as Pot Marigolds, these hardy annuals are reliable and easy to grow, thriving on almost any soil. The nectar-rich blooms are a magnet for pollinating insects, and they make great cut flowers too. Height: 45cm (18"). Spread: 30cm (12").
Culinary note: Some parts of these flowers are edible. The light peppery taste of the flowers can be added to breads for extra flavour with a touch of colour. Can also be used as a substitute for saffron when colouring rice dishes.
